I hope your Sunday is going well. I thought I would post some inspiring quotes and cooking/healthy living images for you! I am making my way through the new Fall into Health Sale Bundle books and I can’t help but think… “maybe I should write an e-book someday?” Im flipping through the pages of excellent photos and drool-worthy nourishing foods and can’t stop thinking about my own creations in the kitchen.

Inspiration…

The other thing I wanted to talk to you about is that I really want to get back into the kitchen cooking (after my long break to focus 100% on healing my body). I miss mixing up random ingredients and watching it form into something really good. I miss taking pictures and running around the house, trying to find the perfect light. I love editing the pictures and finally posting my recipe to share with YOU. I enjoy getting comments from mom’s who finally have a happy kid because they get “safe” banana bread or chocolate chips. It gives me such a feeling of accomplishment and joy.

What’s next?

So these pictures are not just for you to be inspired be for me as well. Feel free to comment below to tell me what kinds of recipes you want to see next!

Corganic Enzyme giveaway ($139.80 value)

gut zyme

Why do I like theses enzymes?

Organic 3 company is the founder of GUTPRO probiotic. Have you heard of it or used it? When I first started looking for completely allergy free probiotics, I came across this website. I was shocked to find that a company really exists to make such specific formulas. If you have allergies or are on GAPS, you know there are loop holes in all foods and supplements. I still constantly research to find out what “really” makes up supplements.

I went ahead and tried their probiotic powder. I did not react and was very impressed at the quality and potency. I trust this company (which is very rare for me to say this due to  mislabeling). Recently I was contacted to do a giveaway from this company and of course I had to say yes. But this time they created a new product! Even before I saw the labels or did some research, I trusted that these were going to be really GOOD!

Organic 3 has created enzymes specifically to help digestion and HCL levels. They created 2 different allergy free formulas. I trust the ingredients and sources they use too (you can view the labels below). Many of you know the importance of enzymes and sufficient HCL levels for digestion and ultimately the immune system. I hope you are as excited as I am to finally find “safe” enzymes!!

The Enzymes:

GutZyme™ Restore is the original formula that contains HCL & Pepsin. This digestive supplement is perfect for people who are following the GAPS Diet, or are restricting their grains and carbohydrate intake, and are looking not only to restore their HCL levels but want to maximize their absorption of fats, proteins, minerals and other nutrients. Screen Shot 2013-08-16 at 3.04.04 PM

GutZyme™ Restore Contains HCL & Pepsin

  • Helps with the digestion and absorption of proteins
  • Discourages the survival of harmful microorganisms
  • Promotes absorption of minerals
  • 200MG HCL and 4MG Pepsin in each capsule

120 capsules: $34.95 Screen Shot 2013-08-16 at 3.03.31 PM

GutZyme™ Assist is a digestive supplement is perfect for people who have adequate HCL levels but want to maximize their absorption of fats, proteins, minerals and other nutrients. It includes all the same enzymes as the original GutZyme™, plus additional enzymes to assist the digestionof beans and other carbohydrates. You can even open up the capsules to consume since it does not contain HCL and Pepsin. Screen Shot 2013-08-16 at 3.03.45 PM

GutZyme™ Assist Contains Additional Enzymes

  • Glucoamylase helps to break down starch that occurs naturally in most vegetables
  • Invertase is a carbohydrate-digesting enzyme that splits sucrose (common table sugar) into its component parts, glucose and fructose
  • Maltase breaks down the disaccharide maltose in to two glucose molecules, which are easily oxidized by the body for energy.
  • Alpha-Galactosidase helps break down the polysaccharides and oligosaccharides found in foods that are typically more-challenging to digest such as peanuts, beans, lentils and cruciferous vegetables, such as cauliflower, cabbage, broccoli and Brussels sprouts.
  • Beta-Glucanase represents a group of carbohydrate enzymes which break down glycosidic bonds within beta-glucan.

GutZyme™ Assist  120 capsules: $34.95 Screen Shot 2013-08-16 at 3.03.11 PM

Yes on Prop 37 giveaway: Wild Planet Seafood ($50 value)!!

Whats all the talk about GMO’s these days? Or whats prop 37?

Its more important than you may think. If you care about the world, your health, and food then you care about voting YES for proposition 37! let me do a little explaining…

 What is Prop 37?

Proposition 37 is a common-sense November ballot measure that will help consumers make informed choices about the food they eat. Written with broad input from food groups, industry, science, legal and health experts Prop. 37 (The California Right to Know Genetically Engineered Food Act) requires clear labels letting consumers know if foods are genetically modified.  (source)

If you don’t live in California, then you are probably thinking, so what? Not so fast. Dozens of countries have completely banned GMO’s because they know of their scary side affects on humans. Even though this law won’t rip out GMO’s out of of food system (quite yet..), it is a step (a HUGE step!). As you probably already know, California starts many trends for the rest of the country, so voting yes on Prop 37 could get required labels for GMO’s in your state someday!

We Have a Right to Know What’s in Our Food:  Fifty countries around the world—representing more than 40% of the world’s population—already require GMO labeling, including all of Europe, Japan, India and China. Polls show that more than 90% of Americans want to know if their food is genetically engineered. We are free to choose what we want to eat and feed our children. The free market is supposed to provide consumers with accurate information about products so we can make informed choices.  (source)

What are GMO’s

What Are Genetically Engineered Foods (GMOs)?  A genetically engineered food is a plant or meat product that has had its DNA artificially altered in a laboratory by genes from other plants, animals, viruses, or bacteria in order to produce foreign compounds in that food. This type of genetic alteration is not found in nature and is experimental.   Many of the foods we currently eat and feed our families (including certain baby formulas and a high percentage of corn, soy, cotton and sugar beets commonly used in processed foods sold in the U.S.),  but we don’t know which ones without labeling.  (source)

GMO’s are killing you!

Are Genetically Engineered Foods Safe?  GMOs have not been proven safe, and long-term health studies have not been conducted. A growing body of peer-reviewed studies has linked these foods to allergies, organ toxicity, and other health problems. These studies must be followed up. However, unlike the strict safety evaluations required for the approval of new drugs, the US Food and Drug Administration does not require safety studies for genetically engineered foods. The United Nations/World Health Organization food standards group and the American Medical Association have called for mandatory safety testing of genetically engineered foods — a standard the U.S. fails to meet.

GMOs Linked to Environmental Problems:  Various environmental problems associated with genetic engineering have been well documented, including biodiversity loss, an overall increase in pesticide use, the emergence of super weeds that are threatening millions of acres of farmland, and the unintentional contamination of non-GMO and organic crops. (source)

So your thinking, if GMO’s are deadly, then why is there such a big fight for this prop 37 to pass? What human person would want to die eating food? Not me! Check this out…

Who is Opposed to Proposition 37?  Not one human being has made a contribution to the campaign against Prop. 37.  Instead, the campaign is funded entirely by giant pesticide and junk food companies with a track record of making false claims about the safety of their products.  The “No” campaign’s two largest donors– Monsanto and DuPont—are the same companies that told us Agent Orange and DDT were safe.  Further undermining the No campaign’s credibility is the fact that its biggest funder—Monsanto—produced a series of ads supporting labeling of GMOs in Europe in the 1990s.  (source)

I LOVE Wild Planet Seafood!

Don’t get me started on seafood, I just LOVE it!

Wild Planet has been so nice to donate their products ($50 value worth) to this giveaway to help raise funds and awareness for Prop 37! I don’t think I need to talk about the health benefits of seafood; you know all those minerals and fish oils are super for your health! Wild Planet is BPA-free! Their seafood is so earth friendly and yummy at the same time 🙂

Wild Planet Foods is dedicated to producing sustainably-fished, safe, nutritious, and great-tasting seafood. The company operates three docks and is therefore the “first receiver” of each catch from small, artisanal vessels practicing sustainable fishing methods that preserve the marine habitat and promote species population. Many boat owners are also Wild Planet shareholders with a vested interest in providing the best-quality products on the market in compliance with the company’s mission.

They even care about all the other sea creatures in the catching process…

Exclusive use of pole and troll fishing techniques eliminates the bycatch of sea turtles, seabirds, sharks and other fish commonly killed or wounded by the long-line methods used to supply the conventional canned seafood companies.

and if you are concerned about mercury, they have a solution for you!

Wild Planet Foods’ products include: Wild Albacore Tuna (which has no added water or oil to drain, contains 600% more natural Omega 3 and less than half the mercury levels of the big three tuna brands), Wild Skipjack Tuna, Wild Alaskan Sockeye Salmon, Wild Alaskan Pink Salmon, Wild Pink Shrimp, Wild California Sardines and Dungeness Crab meat.

Save your food! Save your health! Save the world!

Now that you know about Monsanto and his plan to fight prop 37 with all his money, you are aware that money need to be raised to spread the word about voting YES for prop 37. Many people don’t even know what GMO means, so that is why Village Green Network is raising money to help spread the word. Billboards, commercials, and any media that will get to the public to show them the truth on GMO’s costs money. Every dollar counts!

Do you want to be responsible for allowing GMO’s into yours,  your children and grandchildren’s food, without even knowing it? Well that is what is happening right now! The time has come to show the food supply that YOU CARE ABOUT YOUR FOOD!
