Healing update #2

It’s Monday!

(I dont think I have been this excited for a Monday in a long time.)

Hello 🙂

IMG_0452

That is because I get my RIFE machine! Remember in “My healing update #1” I talked about getting a RIFE machine to heal my organs. Well today is the day!

Let me rewind a bit, because there was some important things that happened this weekend to me.

.

Itchy!

I decided to try a cucumber. I was ok for the first few bites. Then I started to do some school work. I was using pencils-with erasers, and sat on a rubber ball. My eyes started to itch, I got hives around my lips, and my skin (and head) was super itchy! I could not figure it out. Usually if I react to a food it will be within the first 3 hours-that is why I was confused, because this reaction happened after the 3 hour period. Screen Shot 2013-02-10 at 2.39.59 PM

I did a little research. I might have been ok with the cucumber, but not around latex (rubber).

Latex cross reacts with many things and one of them is cucumber. Just being around rubber made my allergic response come “alive”. I was actually pleased to have figured this out because in the past month I tried dandelion tea, zucchini, ginger, and now cucumber.

I reacted with very itchy skin, swelling, tired, severe stomach pains (that kept me up for hours) and just plain blah. I thought my body just was reacting to any food-turns out it was cross reacting.

Now, most foods do cross react with pollen, latex, dust, etc. so I will have to clear these things for NAET before I eat a new food. Today I treated latex for NAET (#32) and boy am I itchy. If you get a reaction from the NAET treatment, that is a good sign that your body is trying to get rid of it. I guess I should be happy that it itches, right?

.

Cross reacting Allergies

Here is a chart I made to make sure you know what foods cross react with what. You can right click and open in a new tab so you can “zoom” in on the font. I was inspired to create it after my cucumber/latex reaction.

Pin this chart using this link http://pinterest.com/pin/460070918153510752/

.

.

The bottom sentences go like this. I will type them up here because I know they are very tiny!

  • *Gluten: These cross reactants are just possibilities and each person will have their own results (cyrex labs can determine which are cross reacting in your body).
  •  For the highly sensitive people-be cautious of even touching, breathing (vapors) or being near these foods-it may cause a reaction.
  •  Cooking the food may reduce or eliminate a reaction
  •  A reaction to these foods will be the worst during exposure or the peak season. But, reactions can occur anytime.
  •  The GAPS diet can help heal the gut, which can help rid of seasonal allergies & their cross reactants. NAET is a good alternative for the anaphylactic or extra sensitive people.
  •  Spices or herbs: the full list is included under “mugwart” and are listed in red. Apply this list when every you see “spices or herbs” in red.

Other tips:

The reactions will vary (itchy, stomach pains, rash, bloating…).

The reactions will be worse if you are in direct contact with the allergen and then eat or touch or breath the food.

The season the pollen is highest matters too. But you can still react out of season.

Environment matters. Like, don’t go to the dr. (with lots of latex) and then eat a kiwi if you are sensitive (I have done this before).

Sometimes if you cook the food, that denatures the proteins that cross react with the allergen.

If you are allergic to latex or pollens or peanuts most likely you will be sensitive to the whole list.

The gluten cross reacting list is special. Not everyone will react to the same things and most likely not the whole list (usually only a handful-I have about 7 cross reactants). Cyrex labs can determine your gluten cross reactants with a blood test. This is a good post to read to get the “science” behind why.

.

Feeling better:

Now on to the good stuff. I am slowly, but finally feeling a bit better! What do I mean “feeling better”. For months–ever since June, I have been feeling very tired and just worn down. My organs were stressed (especially my liver) from being unable to detox properly. The circulating toxins made my brain foggy. I was living each day- one day at a time.

IMG_0443

Only a few things have changed, but I think they are working.

#1 I am taking the zeolite. This has helped detox mercury in my gut and I actually feel like the “fog” in my brain has lifted!

#2 Nettles and broccoli. My body NEEDED some greens and these two foods are nourishing every cell in my body!

#3 green tea. Green tea is suppose to balance out the T1 dominant side for autoimmune disease (which I have). I can tell a big difference in my focus and energy. The caffeine does not seem to bother me-though I don’t drink a lot. I also treated fluoride with NAET because I heard that green tea is pretty high in it.

#4 exercise. Before I was too weak to exercise, but now that I have a bit extra energy (the tea?) I can get my lymph system moving–which always makes me feel way better!

.

The mystery rash & Dr. Conners

I got a rash all over my body last week. It just happened to come out, the day after I started the zeolite (mercury detox). I thought it was a detox from the mercury. Nope!

IMG_0373

a picture of the “rash” on my arm. ouch!

I went into Dr. Conner’s today so he could check up on me and send me home with my RIFE! I showed him my rash and he immediately started doing his kinesiology. He had me hold some viles to muscle test me. He then asked to see my cell phone and we tested that. I had a hunch he was testing EMF’s.

I told him that I have little EMF’s protectors on my cell phone, my computer, and we have grounders for our house and wifi. He thought for a few seconds and then told me that the rash was probably old EMF’s (that were stored in my body) and are now coming out. He then confirmed it with some more kinesiology. The zeolite can detox EMF’s too. We have only started “protecting” ourselves from EMF’s last year so I had exposure for 17 years of my life–plus we lived by small telephone lines in our old house.

He gave us a box of some volcanic ash that is zero charge (will help ground the house). The ground is negative charge (which is good for us to walk on barefoot). I am suppose to sprinkle it around my house so it can basically “soak up the extra charges from appliances”. It is called “grounding”- it is similar concepts to an Earthing Mat.

I love finding this information out, it fascinates me!!

I then asked him about the rash on my face that I got last night after the sauna. He tested it and said that was from the mercury detoxing. I guess the sauna will be a good tool to get those toxins out! I try to rotate my detoxing so I do the sauna every couple days. .

.

Illeocecal Valve

I also got my illeocecal valve fixed today. I reminded Dr. Conners that my acupuncturist friend mentioned it was inflamed and most likely “stuck”. I had no idea what I was in for!

He dug into the area between my belly button and right hip bone. He tested which way he had to “push” on it. He pushed it upwards to fix it. I cant say it was pleasant-and actually I laughed (because I tickled but hurt). I knew I had to try and relax my muscles. When I finally relaxed them-he said he was done.

Whewf, I hope I don t have to do that any time soon :). Im happy that its “fixed” now because so many digestive problems are associated with it being stuck open or closed. Read more about the illeocecal valve here.

My RIFE!

Finally, to the best part of the post! Do you not know what RIFE is? Read a little about it here and here Does it seem a little “coo-koo to you? It did to me at first but then I did a little more research..

rife 2

What does RIFE do for the body?

Here is what RIFE helps with according to The Upper Wellness Center (the clinic I go to).

  • Inflammation (swelling) has a critical role in illness.

  • Initial Inflammation helps liquefy toxins in connective tissue. The body follows the understanding that Dilution is the Solution to Pollution.

  • Disease can occur whenever the body is unable to eliminate this fluid from the body, hence, holding the toxic fluid = CHRONIC INFLAMMATION.

  • Diseases are the result of the struggle with toxins = TOXIC OVERLOAD

According to the RIFE website…

For most users it represents complete freedom from the most common seasonal colds, flu and allergies. It may be equally effective for much more serious, otherwise untreatable problems, like bacteria, virus, fungus, and mycoplasma.

To my understanding, the RIFE helps eliminate lymph blockage. The lymph system is an important system in the body that flushes out “toxins”. Toxins create disease. Of course other organs (kidney, liver, lung..) play a role in eliminating toxins. The RIFE can help with general organ healing (which is why I got it). I guess my whole family will end up using it because it is very good at treating viruses, or bacteria too. 🙂 .

How does RIFE work?

The RIFE/LBG uses extremely low current cold gas light photons to transfer energy frequency patterns to the area of the cell helping to provide an environment which can assist the cell in correcting its out-of-balance electromagnetic charge Because the tissue is in a state of free flow, this is the ideal condition to effectively treat swollen tissue in the body.

The RIFE/LBG is NOT magic, yet used in conjunction with other detoxification modalities, it can be a God-send for people to help aid their body through the healing process.  It is used as an adjunct (or support) to vertebral subluxation correction by helping the body rid toxins and swelling.

IMG_0460

Here is the computer screen that controls what program you do on the RIFE- this one is for lymph circulation.

The RIFE is run by that box you see in the first picture collage. The light frequency comes out of that plastic surrounded glass tube. I hold the tube next to my body of at least near me. The little computer is the “programer” and if filled with files that have a special program for each illness or virus or organ (there are hundreds of categories).

It is so fun to scan through to see what it can “treat”. I am mostly going to use the organ programs. Today I have already run the lymph (runs for 48 min), thyroid (runs for 10 min), and liver (runs for 50 min). I put it by my feet or behind my chair (I actually have it near me while I type this). Some of the frequencies started messing with my computer and started moving the mouse around and such-haha I guess the electrical things got mixed.

Dr. Conner’s gave me a program to follow that lasts 6 hours (while I sleep). There is a different one for each day of the week. I am not sure where I will put the “tube” , but maybe wrap it in a pillow case and lay it next to me. He said I could start detoxing if I do it too much, so I will be careful. (I even asked them to give me a semi-old RIFE machine and parts beacseu I am sensitive to new things. They were happy to do that for me!)

.

Foot detox ionizer:

I continue with detoxing my body while I take the zeolite. My main goal is to stop my autoimmune attacks on my body and help my liver detox all the toxins and mercury stored in my body.

There is an attachment to the RIFE that ionizes water for an ion foot bath. There are so many scams out there about ion foot detox baths. The color has nothing to do with the toxins coming out of you. It simply ionizes the water to help attract the toxics out of your skin. There are too many health claims connected to it. I just think it is another tool to detox.

IMG_0451

I have had it done at the clinic 2 x and each time my rashes stop itching or burning (so I know something is working). It is not a HUGE difference, but I will give it a shot (I have to remember that I have only done it 2x). .

.

Healing words.

When I mentioned to Dr. Conners that I think the green tea and the zeolite were working-giving me more energy and a general sense of feeling well, he said something I will never forget.

“See, God has you in good hands!”

What he said could not more true. Having him as a dr. along with my NAET chiropractor, my wonderful acupuncturist, and supportive family, friends, and blog readers (you!) is a blessing. .

Jump-out the toxins (Rebounding for lymph drainage).

Is it possible to jump and release toxins?

Yes it is, but its probably not exactly how you are picturing it. The toxins dont just spurt out of your body- you are actually facilitating your detox process. The method to doing this is called rebounding- which is jumping.

IMG_00620

My stubborn lymph system

I suffer from a sluggish lymph system and I try and try to get it flowing. I pretty much do all the suggestions below (which takes up a lot of time) and still I get symptoms daily. If you are like me, then it is going to be a process to get your lymph system working properly again, and it could be tied to some other condition- like my hashimtos. I also am slowly introducing a lymph homeopathic form my chiropractor.

Do you have a sluggish lymph system?

IMG_00761

The answer is YES if you suffer from any of these symptoms.

Chronic illness

Autoimmune disorder

Thyroid imbalances (hypothyroidism)

Weak immune system (prone to infections and illness)

Sinus congestion/infections

Headaches

Consistant fatigue

Swollen lymph nodes

Poor circulation

Itching

Allergies

Cellulite

Overweight

Swollen face and/or limbs

“puffy eyes” in the morning.

Fluid retention (enema)

Swollen tonsils

Pressure in head, “full feeling”

.

.

The lymph organs

The lymph organs

What is the lymph system?

The first thing you should know about the lymph system is that is moves very slowly. It has no pump, like your heart pumps your blood. Its up to you to “pump” your lymph fluid. Trust me, you will want to move by the end of this post!

Every wonder why you wake up with puffy eyes? That is because while you are sleeping the lymph fluid does not get to move as much, so the lymph fluid builds up. The fluid retention will be worse if your lymph system is under functioning because of a illness or disease (liver problems, hypothyroidism, edema, sinus problems..).

You have lymph vessels all over your body. Take a look at this chart to see what I am talking about. These vessels open and close. The lymph fluid moves away form gravity. When you jump these vessels open and close several times, allowing the fluid to move back and forth.

The lymph system removes excess fluid from the tissues and in between the cells. It also absorbs protein and gives it to the blood. Pathogens, toxins, and cancer cells are all removed my the lymph system.

This system absorbs fat soluble vitamins from your digested food. If you are interested in the lymph anatomy (like me) then take a look at these pictures of the face, head, and neck lymph system. Here is the whole body chart.

I bet you didn’t know..

You have main lymph valves in your arms and legs.

You have over 300 lymph nodes in your neck and head area.

The lymph nodes are designed to drain toxins before they reach your brain- so even more of a reason for these nodes to work better!

Your liver is packed with lymph vessels too which are activated when you rebound.

Lymph fluid cleanses and transports.

Lymph organs include bone marrow, spleen, lymph nodes, and thymus.

There is more lymph in your body then blood. You are the “pump” for your lymph system, no organ will do it for you! Move!

Most people with chronic illness have problems with their lymph system.

The body is separated into 2 parts -right lymph ad left lymph.

The left lymph covers most of your body. It is a very uneven proportion, look at a picture here. (notice the bluish color on the man’s right side and the neutral color on his left side.)

.

lymph pic

.

What is rebounding?

It is simply jumping. A trampoline allows your knees and body to bounce back without stress. If I just jump around, my knees get sore. I would suggest a trampoline- I got mine  here (the reviews say it breaks fast, but I have had mine fore over a year without problems). It also makes you more inclined to jump!

.

PicMonkey Collag3e

Unleash your toxins!

The lymph system needs help. It is sluggish. Bouncing forces the fluid to start moving. The fluid moves out toxins and debris and gets your detox organs to kick into gear.

You may feel a flush or rush of energy when you start to rebound. Your energy and lymph fluid are getting stirred up and flowing (this is good).

If you start to feel fatigued or any other detox symptoms, cut down on the time or stop. Rebounding is a powerful detox so play it safe and start slow. Allow your body to be the conductor- more is not always better.

Once the toxins are released your body has to get rid of them. Assist your body by taking a sauna or clay bath (instructions here). Just like any detox, you might feel worse before you feel better.

.

How to jump?

Its simple-jump. Up and down. Lift off your toes. Nothing too strenuous. Watch this video to get a feel for exactly what to do. Use a trampoline. I bought a mini one from amazon (actually a kids one) that cost like $40. Mine has not broken and I have been jumping on it daily for 1 year. You will want to get one that is right for your body (weight) and durable.

.

.

How I jump

I grabbed my sister to have her demonstrate rebounding for you. It was a good study break for her to get the blood moving to her brain :). Rebounding is pretty simple. This is how I usually do my jumping. I alternate between the little toe jump, the regular jump and the tuck jump. I like to mix it up so its fun. I also like to move my arms. Im not very coordinated so I just let them fly around :).

.

Internal_organs

Rebounding has a direct connection to increase lymph flow in your body’s organs.

Happy organs/body.

Digestion: Expect your insides to feel jiggly (hey you are jumping). Rebounding stimulates your digestion, allowing the food to well…evacuate faster! My sister says it feels like a “body reset” every time you jump.

Intestines: There is a special name for the lymph in the intestines- chyle. Its role is to hold the absorb the fat from your food.

Muscles: Rebounding is in fact engaging tons of muscles, even though it seems so easy and fun…wait till you jump for 10 min. After a few weeks you will notice your muscles might have more definition or are just stronger and more flexible. You are using muscle groups that would not normally be used.

Liver and detox organs: As you jump, the lymph fluid gets circulating around your liver. More blood and lymph fluid = more oxygen & more nutrients. As the blood gets shunted to your liver and detox organs, they can preform their task more efficiently (which is detoxing!) Allowing your liver to function better will put less stress on your lymph organs like the spleen.

Lungs/Brain: I always feel like I can breath better after a rebounding session. The increase in oxygen and allowing your lungs to fully expand gives your brain the oxygen it has been asking for. So much of our life we don’t breath fully and are really starving our brains as well. If you need a “work or study break” just jump. I sometimes stop my siblings when they are studying really hard and have them jump to get their brain working better!

Mood: I cant say exactly what increases someones mood, but when you jump, it sure works. I mean, how could it not after reading all these positive benefits for the body. If your body is happy your mood is happy. I challenge you to rebound without cracking a smile…its hard!

Metabolism/circulation: People seem to love this word, right? Rebounding does help to reboot your metabolism because all your other organ systems are being recharged. If your body is working, you metabolism will follow. If you have cold fingers and toes (like I do) rebounding will become your best friend. I wake up in the morning eager to jump to get some warmth in me.

Immune system: Your lymph system is directly connected to your immune system. It helps remove destroyed cells, debris, toxins, and cancer cells. Your thymus (a lymph gland) plays a key role in your immune system and fighting infections as well.

.

liver lymph

.

Liver lymph connection:

The key to a healthy lymph system and drainage is keeping the liver in tip-top shape. (I know I have some work to do with my liver- dandelion greens here I come!)

There is a big connection between a healthy liver and a properly functioning lymph system. That is because 25-50% of lymph that flows through the thoracic duct is produced by the liver. The thoracic duct is the main duct (from you neck all the way down your abdomen) in your body for the lymph system. It transports most of the lymph to the bloodstream.

The lymph in the thoracic duct carries nutrients from the intestines into the blood stream and draws lymph from both halves of the body. If that much lymph comes from your liver and flows into the main “vessel” of the lymph system then it makes sense why a healthy liver=healthy lymph.

There are countless ways to get your liver functioning properly. I prefer to focus on gentle ways that wont stress the body too much in the process. Liver detoxing with dandelion greens, milk thistle, burdock, healthy fats, eating grass fed liver, caster oil pack, acupuncture…There are countless ways to clean up your liver and give it that extra boost so it can do what it does best -detox and produce lymph! Glutathione is important to help detox your liver as well.

Good news is that your liver has the ability to regenerate. The liver is comprised of certain types of cells that actually rebuild and replicate to form a healthy liver- even after injury to the liver. This “regeneration” mechanism has been studied and witnessed since ancient times. A liver can grow and adapt in size and mass. As little as 25% of a liver can regenerate back into a whole liver.

There have been studies done that show liver regeneration actually can be compromised by chemicals (we have plenty of those in our world). Despite this, there is hope with your liver, but that doesn’t mean you can be “mean” to it and drink and eat all the bad food you want.

When you support your liver with herbs and exercise, detox is natural. Cleansing will come before rejuvenation and it can take a few moths to many years (depending on the condition you liver is in now). If you care for your liver, all your other systems and organs (gallbladder, lymph, colon, etc.) will benefit and create a healthier body overall.

.

Massage

Massage facilitates lymph flow

.

How else to get lymph system moving

Dry skin brushing. I do this every day, and I actually look forward to it. There are special techniques so read about it here. Sometimes I even brush my skin with my shower brush, but dry brushing is more effective then wet. I use this brush.

Massage/Face massage. My mom massages my neck and shoulders when they are tight or if my ear won’t drain. It gives immediate relief too. I like this link for face massage instructions. Trust me these techniques work- I stroke my face and neck every morning like this video explains and I see a difference in my face. Here is a good book to learn more.

Any exercise. Rebounding is just the most effective for lymph. Exercise is hands down the most effective lymph system “pumper or drainer”. You cannot live without it! I find swimming or yoga are 2nd best to rebounding for lymph movement.

Chiropractic care. If you get the right alignment, the fluid can drain properly. I always get immediate results with this.

Oil pulling. Swishing a spoonful of oil (coconut, olive, sesame) in your moth for 20 min each day will aid in lymph flow in your sinuses. Nothing feels better to me then clear sinus. I find that it also unplugs the mucus in my ears as well as reduces the swelling the lymph nodes under my chin. I use coconut oil.

freeimage-658263

Acupuncture. The lymph organs (spleen, thymus, and lymph nodes) all have special meridians which can be stimulated. I get my lymph points needled and I find relief. Acupressure also is helpful too.

Drink water. Clean water of course. Without water the lymph system cannot flow properly. Not too much though.. don’t over do it (you can be over hydrated, trust me, I was). I use a berkey with ceramic filters.

Inversions: Headstands, downward dog, “legs crawl up the wall” are all simple positions the let your head hang. Inverting your body uses gravity to help your lymph system drain. Go do a handstand..or work on it anyways.

Deep breathing. Seriously just do it. Right now. Fill those lungs and make sure your shoulders don’t move (your belly should). My sisters in choir taught me how to breath. First start by laying of your back. Breath. Do you see you stomach rise. Now try it sitting. Its harder isn’t it? Just practice. This link will help you.

Poop/enema: Yes getting your colon moving is a good idea. Remember its not all about fiber but the good bacteria that helps you eliminate too. A coffee enema or colon cleansing can give your liver a nice detox (don’t be squeamish or scared- your body may need it), which is going to help the lymph system in return.  I wrote a whole post to help you here. I bought this nontoxic enema bucket. When your colon is cleaned up, this puts less stress on your other organ, especially your detox (liver, kidney, lung) and lymph (spleen) organs.

Loose clothing: Constrictive clothing (especially in the lymph node areas) can block lymph flow. That includes underwire bras- so just wear them only when you have to. Here is a good bra without wires and is cotton.

Sauna: The heat gets your blood and lymph fluid flowing (hence the sweat). It is healthy to sweat because it releases toxins in each sweat droplet. (I used to not sweat and I knew my detox and lymph system were impaired. But after a few months on detox baths and sauna’s I am now sweat. I bought this sauna. I also use a near infra red light with this holder.

Castor oil packs: Applying a castor oil pack/with heat on your liver draws more blood to flow around your liver and helps it function better. Remeber a healthy liver = more lymph flow! You need flannel and the castor oil.

Food. Proper nutrition is key too. Your body relies on nutrients to keep the body healthy in all aspects. Take out foods you are sensitive or allergic to, because they can but a big toxic burden on your whole body and mind. For me, food and environmental allergies cause face puffiness and fluid retention in my body.

Magnesium oil: Proper magnesium (do you use magnesium oil?) and calcium balance help with muscle action by “squeezing” the lymph system along its way. I use this oil spray and these magnesium chloride salts. You can also use epson salts (magnesium sulfate) too.

detox bath Herbs/essential oils. I just ordered some essential oils that are suppose to be good for lymph drainage. Cypress, orange, grapefruit, rosemary, ginger, peppermint, lemon. I take a few drops internally or apply them onto my lymph glands under my neck or arms. Homeopathics made from a mixture of herbs can be very effective too.

Clay baths. Detox-Clay baths not only deeply cleanse the body’s largest organ (the skin), but they stimulates the lymphatic fluid. See step by step pictures on how to take a clay bath here. I use this clay and love it!

.

The lymphatic system

The lymphatic system

What to expect?

Expect your body to feel more “balanced”. All you organs are being worked, its like an organ workout! Toxins will be released, so make sure to drink some water afterwards. A clay bath can help too- to soak up all the toxins. Wear comfortable clothes. Feel prepared to think and feel better. Have fun!

How to prepare a Kidney

Am I crazy? First the frog legs and now this! Yep. I guess That is why they call me “gutsy”. This week I am introducing kidney to you!

Yuck! Why eat organ meats?

Because they are good for you! Ha! I know you don’t like to hear those words, but it is very true! I have decided that organ meats NEED to be reintroduced to people!

.

Organ rules

A few rules apply though when choosing organ meats. 1. Get organ meat from grass-fed, organic, free pasture animals. This ensures that the animal is healthy and will produce healthy organs. 2. Don’t over cook (unless you need to boil it to make a stew or its the only way you can “get it down” then by all means do what you can!) I say this because the nutrients and enzymes are most potent in its raw form. 3. If you are worried about bacteria and blah blah blah, freezer your organs for at least 2 weeks. This will ensure any parasites or bugs will be dead when you eat the organs “rare”. 4. Start off small! Some organs are meant to be eaten like a steak (heart) or diced up and sparingly (adrenal). Organs are powerful and healing food, so just like anything new, start with a bite and then increase slowly.

.

Organs..eww…Get over it

Really! It you have read this far, obviously you are even a wee bit interested, or I am just amusing you . 🙂 Organs from animals are designed for humans to eat! Ever since humans have existed, they have eaten organ meats from healthy animals to actually strengthen their own organs! Awesome huh? Read a little bit about “The benefits or Organs Meats” here. I have noticed ever since I started to eat liver again (every day) my energy has sky-rocketed! Since I love how my body feels after eating liver, I am going to expand my “gutsy-ness” and go for all the organs that I can get my hands on!

If you simply cannot do it, just know you are missing out on one of the healthiest foods, and really no other food can replace organs. Now that I think of it, they should be its own food group!

I already have eyeballs, pancreas, spleen, thymus, liver, heart, adrenal, tongue and bones in my freezer (the last two are not actually organs, but I will put them in this series because they are a little weird). I was suppose to get ovaries and brain as well, but they were not available this week, but no worries, they will show up some time or another!

.

Where to buy organs?

To start off, ask your local farmer (find yours here!) if they have organ meats around. I am sure they would be more then happy to give you some for a really good deal!

Did I ever tell you the story where I went to my farmers market with my younger sister and brother. I walked up to the farmer lady and said “hmm I would like…liver, heart, and..oh do you have kidney and tongue?” She whipped around her head and gave me the most shocking weird look, but surprisingly pleased! I guess the word got around that this “girl” loves her organs. My small little farmers market still talks about it regularly like it happened yesterday!

Ok back on subject. I buy most of my organs from my local farmers or North Star buffalo. I am in no way affiliated with them, I just really like their  organs.  I get lamb, cow, buffalo, and goat organs. Be sure to call them and ask for the organs because they only have a few common ones online, but I promise you they do have them waiting for you! I also have heard great things about  U.S. Wellness Meats organ meats.

.

Whats so good about kidney?

The kidney I got was from a pig. Though, you can get kidneys from all sorts of animals. Kideny’s are good for your kidneys. Remember “like heals like”. I guess we can learn a lot from the nutritional value of animal organ meats to determine what vitamins and minerals are specially good for that particular organ in our bodies.

They are super high in potassium, B12, folate, vitamin A, vitamin D! Don’t forget that kidney is a great protein source. It is lean, so make sure to fry it up in some fat! Organ meats are definitely GAPS friendly and they should be GAPS mandatory. The one food that is helping me heal is actually organs (bone broth included!) After eating this, your body will say “thank you”!

The taste

Kideny’s really have their own unique taste. I have to admit, it did smell a little funky when I was cutting it up. I was thinking “umm I hope it doesn’t take like it smell raw!” Thankfully the smell vanished when I lightly seared it. My whole family thought it was really yummy too!

I used the pork kidney and suteed it lightly with bacon, palm oil, an onions. I have a recipe coming soon for you too see what I did. There is a big misconception that organ meats NEED a particular recipe. Really all organ meats need is a little sauté in some butter, coconut,  palm oil, or lard, a sprinkle of sea salt and voila!

Some people like to “hid” their organ meats just because of the thought of eating organs or the taste, and I understand both completely! (I have a little squeamish sister, I get it!- I have managed to “sneak” in organs! ha! I hope she isn’t reading this…)

How to prepare a Kidney

So here we go, I will teach you how to prepare a

kidney. Its really simple.

1. Defrost your kidney (if frozen) in the fridge.

2. Unwrap the kidney and place it on a plate.

3. Examine the kidney. Do you notice the little white parts of fat? If yours does not have this, then the fat was already taken off for you.

4. Transfer kidney on a cutting board. Use a sharp knife and cut the fat off the kidney.

5. Cut the kidney if half (or as much as you can- there is a strong membrane holding it together).

6. Cut around the membrane, and trim off the soft meat.

7. Discard the fat and membrane. (or you can render the fat if you have enough)

8. Now you have “strips” of kidney. Either leave it in strips and sauté or dice up small (like I did) and use in stews, chili, or a recipe (coming soon…)

*Yeah you did it! The easy part is over..now you have to put it on your mouth, and swallow!
